THE Ranking 2011: Excellent result for LMU Physics
In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2011 the Physical Sciences at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München were rated best among its German contenders and 5th in Europe.
Physics at LMU Munich is in 17th place among the world's top universities and in 5th place in Europe , after the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, ETH Zurich and Imperial College London.
LMU Physics scored 99.8 out of 100 possible points in the field of citations, 77.6 in teaching, and 75.1 in research.
The Dean of the Faculty of Physics at LMU Munich, Professor Axel Schenzle, credits the extraordinary success of LMU Physics to the uncompromising practice of faculty appointments in recent years, which has given priority to the recruitment of the best researchers internationally and engagement in new branches of research.
