CERN experiments observe particle consistent with Higgs boson

Munich, July 4, 2012

At a seminar held at CERN today, the spokespersons of the two major particle physics experiments, ATLAS and CMS, reported that progress has been made in the search for the Higgs particle. Both experiments observe clear signs of a new particle consistent with the long-sought Higgs boson. A team of LMU physicists headed by Professor Dorothee Schaile have significantly contributed to this work.
