Current Information on Teaching

Exams in summer semester 2020

Dates and information about the repeat exams of the winter semester 2019/20 as well as the first and repeat exams of the summer semester 2020 for the compulsory lectures of the Faculty of Physics can be found here (german website only).

Teaching in the winter semester 2020/21

The lecture period for all bachelor, master and teaching degree programs starts on November 2, 2020 and ends on February 12, 2020. LMU informs here about the currently valid regulations.

General and current information on studies and teaching at the LMU can be found here.

At the moment, there are many indications that the winter semester 2020/21 will again be based on online teaching formats. Since it is currently impossible to estimate how the pandemic will develop in the coming months, decisions on the concrete implementation of teaching must be made at short notice. On this page, the Faculty of Physics will inform you about the current status of the teaching activities for the upcoming winter semester.

For courses of the winter semester 2020/21 - with a few exceptions - an enrolment via LSF is required. As a general rule, enrolment is possible in the period from 12.10.2020 to 5.11.2020. For individual courses and in particular for the practical courses in physics, there are separate regulations for registration. Please note the information in LSF for the corresponding courses.

If you have questions about a specific course, please contact the corresponding lecturer. General questions about the organization of the teaching activities (i.e. questions that do not concern individual courses) should be directed to studium@physik.lmu.de.

Information for first-year students in the winter semester 2020/21

Where can I find information on the current status of corona measures at the LMU and the Faculty of Physics?

The LMU reports on the current status on the page Information regarding the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which can also be accessed via the LMU start page. Further regulations specifically applicable to the Faculty of Physics are published on the Faculty's homepage on the page Information regarding the coronavirus (SARS-CoV 2): Regulations at the Faculty of Physics.

How and when does the enrollment / registration take place?

Information on enrolment can be found on the faculty's course pages. First go to the page of the relevant degree programme and then to the section "Registration" (if a degree program is only offered in German, you have to switch to the German site and search for the item „Immatrikulation“).

Information on the enrollment process can be found on the LMU's pages on university admission (short version in english).

International students who do not have a German school leaving certificate and are not EU citizens should contact the International Office of the LMU for specific information: www.lmu.de.en/international

Where can I get more information about the start of my studies?

The student council offers a two-day orientation phase at the beginning of October for first-year students in the Bachelor's program. A special orientation phase (german website only) for students studying teacher education is also offered by the Munich Center for Teacher Education (german website only). We strongly recommend all first-year students to participate in these events!

How do I register for courses?

Registration for courses is done via the electronic course catalogue LSF.

With your enrollment you will receive an LMU user ID, which entitles you to access LSF and many other LMU systems. Information on the LMU user ID is available on the website of the LMU IT Service Desk (german website only).

Which events do I have to register for?

In principle, you must register via LSF for all courses you wish to attend (see the note in the section on Teaching in winter semester 2020/21 above). You can find out which courses are relevant for you in the 1st semester of your studies in the orientation phases mentioned above. Furthermore, you can inform yourself in advance about all courses of study on the website of the Faculty of Physics. For any questions you may also contact the Program Counseling Service.
