Examination Period

For the required courses two examination periods take place. The first written exams (1st exam) usually take place in the first and second week after the lecture period in the semester break. A second examination period (2nd exam) is two to three weeks before the official end of term. By taking the 2nd exam you also have the chance to retake the exam to improve your grades.

For the elective courses, lab courses, seminars and special lectures examination dates vary from the above named examination periods. In most cases exams are offered within the lecture period. The dates and times

Registration for Exams

In most cases you do not need to register for taking an exam in a specific course. All information about examination and if there is an exception to the above rule is given by the lecturer (usually in the first session of the semester).

All exams are graded on a scale from 1 to 5. In order to get a more accurate evaluation, each grade can be raised and lowered by 0.3 (however, 0.7, 4.3, 4.7 and 5.3 are not assigned).

To pass an exam and to receive ECTS-credits, you need to obtain a grade of 4.0 or better.

The number of ECTS-credits depends on the workload of the course.
