Information regarding the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2): Regulations at the Faculty of Physics

According to a decree of the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art, teaching in classroom form is currently not possible due to the corona virus SARS-CoV-2. Extensive regulations on infection protection apply to research and administrative operations. Teaching in winter term will start late on November 2nd, 2020. We again expect almost all courses with online formats.

Regulations and recommendations for corona infection protection

On May 6, 2020, the Faculty of Physics publishes extensive regulations and recommendations for the execution of the Second Bavarian Infection Control Regulation of April 16, 2020, based on the guidelines of the University of Bavaria e.V. for the execution of the Second Bavarian Infection Control Regulation as well as the supplementary regulations of the LMU Munich of April 30, 2020. Given the new regulations of the 6. Bayerischen Infektionsschutzmanahmenverordnung these have been updated on July 1st, 2020.

Study, Teaching and Doctoral Studies in summer term 2020

Teaching

On March 10, 2020, the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art ordered the immediate cessation of teaching in classroom form at Bavarian universities due to the spread of the corona virus SARS-CoV-2. As a result of this decision, teaching in classroom form at the Faculty of Physics has been completely suspended until further notice. This concerns all current courses, tutorials, block seminars and practical courses. Furthermore, all CIP pools will remain closed.

However, Faculty of Physics started the lecture period of the summer term 2020 punctually on April 20, 2020 with online-fomats. Further up-to-date information on teaching in summer term 2020 can be found on the special course website.

Information for first-year students

We would like to welcome all first-year students and students who will be enrolling at the Faculty of Physics in the coming winter semester!

Exams

Dates and information on the repeat exams of winter semester 2019/20 and the first exams of the summer semester 2020 can be found here. (Currently just available in German.)

Examinations

Oral examinations (e.g. bachelor final examination, docotral examination) are still possible under strict regulations and can also be held online under certain conditions. Participants returning from trips to risk areas or who have had contact with persons who have returned from a risk area can only take part in an examination remotely.
